A learning assessment, sometimes referred to as a cognitive assessment, can give a profile of a person’s strengths and difficulties in relation to their learning, by providing a snapshot of their abilities at that time, in a controlled way.
Learning assessments can be completed with those from 6 to 90 years of age, with testing being adapted to reflect a person’s age and ability level.
Full assessment cost : £795
A learning (cognitive) assessment will typically take place in clinic, in a quiet room with minimal distractions. There are variations across cognitive assessments, but these tend to include a number of different tasks, puzzles and questions for the participant to complete. Most of the activities are done on iPads, and many individuals who complete them feedback that they were interesting and enjoyable.
Learning assessments offered by South Wales Psychology are detailed intelligence quotient (IQ) tests. Test results typically include a Full-Scale Intelligence Quotient (IQ) score as well as age-equivalent rankings and scores across different indices. A formal report will be provided as part of the learning assessment, which will include personalised recommendations based on your/your child’s presentation.
Although not required as part of the assessments for Autism and ADHD, learning assessments can provide helpful information about you/your child’s cognitive functioning, which can complement a formal diagnostic assessment.
If you are interested in pursuing a learning assessment with South Wales Psychology, please advise the team of this upon making contact or when booking your diagnostic assessment. They will be able to provide further information about this.
